- Delgado Ecological
Services, Inc. was formed by Professor Alex V. Delgado in l987
to address the mounting problem of indoor pollution, which severely
afflicted his wife. After moving into a newly constructed
home several years before, Joan Delgado suffered from an over
exposure to the toxins so prevalent in new building products.
The tight new construction served as a personal gas chamber,
intensifying the problem. Like many other sufferers, she
then reached a point of overload on her immune system, causing
it to no longer be effective, causing collapse as she became
hypersensitive to virtually everything in her environment.
After extensive research,
Professor Delgado discovered a host of special building materials,
techniques and systems to identify environmental contaminants
and provide a safe housing alternative. After constructing
a prototype home for themselves using his discoveries, she experienced
substantial improvement in her condition. She is now able
to venture back into unsafe environments for limited periods
due to the safe refuge of her home.
The media was quick
to notice the special efforts of the Delgados, giving it national
attention. He submitted patent applications in l989 and
has since consulted with hundreds of clients, several of whom
have built their safe homes (ECLUs).
